Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko stated that Russia is deliberately targeting specialists of the State Emergency Service (SES) — over the course of a week, the Russian army damaged six fire and rescue units.
Klymenko reported this on Telegram.
“Russia is deliberately hunting those who save lives. In just one week — from May 26 to June 2 — SES rescuers came under enemy fire about ten times,” the message says.
According to Klymenko, emergency responders in Zaporizhzhia, Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk, Sumy, and Kharkiv regions were hit. Six fire and rescue units and six vehicles were damaged.
“One of the most cynical attacks happened this morning. In Stepnohirsk, Zaporizhzhia region, after a strike by kamikaze drones on a fire station, the occupiers targeted rescuers a second time — those evacuating the wounded,” Klymenko noted.
Two vehicles were damaged. Twelve rescuers were wounded. They are receiving all necessary medical and psychological assistance.
“This is not accidental. This is targeted terror against emergency services. This is a war crime. But even after such brutal strikes, our rescuers put on their uniforms again, repair rescue equipment, and go where someone is still breathing under the rubble. They do not give up. Because they know that the work of rescuers is a chance for life for others. Respect to everyone who stands guard over life every day,” Klymenko emphasized.
